RECIPE: Salada Green Tea & Strawberry Popsicles

July 23, 2014

Nothing says summertime like popsicles!  Unfortunately most of the popsicles you see in the grocery store are full of processed ingredients, neon colors or artificial sugars.  Luckily making your own home made popsicles is easy and delicious…not to mention way less expensive!  This past weekend I just used a couple of ingredients that were already in my refrigerator and came up with a batch of popsicles that may have been my best yet.

I had a fresh batch of iced Salada Pomegranate Berry Tea that I decided to use as my base.  Honestly, if you just put fresh brewed Salada tea into Popsicle molds, you’re going to get a real crowd pleaser on a hot day!  However, I had a bunch of strawberries on hand that I wanted to use that I decided to throw them in too.

I added a little bit of agave for extra sweetness as well as a splash of lemon juice and blended until it was smooth.

Finally I put them into a Popsicle mold and let them freeze overnight.

I have to say the final product was beautiful and delicious!

The best thing about popsicles is you can throw in whatever you have on hand.   For instance, if you prefer a creamier Popsicle you can add some Greek yogurt or coconut milk or if you are trying to avoid sugar, you can skip the agave and rely on the natural sweetness of the fruit.  Just start experimenting and you will find a combo that is perfect for you and your family!

And remember, a few small steps can lead to big changes.

Salada Green Tea & Strawberry Popsicles

  • 2 cups Salada Green Tea (brewed)
  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries
  • 2 tbsp. Agave
  • 1 splash of orange or lemon juice

Blend all the ingredients until liquefied.  Pour into a Popsicle mold or ice cube tray.  Freeze at least 6 hours and enjoy!
