Personalized Nutrition
Everything starts with booking an initial consultation.

It is pretty rare that a new client comes into my office with no idea of what is good for them. Few are shocked that vegetables are important and every woman is currently treating protein as their part time job!
Nor do they lack desire.
In fact, next to the health of their family and loved ones, there is really nothing that they want more than to figure this whole nutrition thing out.
The thing that causes them to falter is the mental load of healthy eating.
The mental ping pong match of low carb, high fiber, calorie deficit (but not too much), healthy relationship with food and protein, protein protein! The sheer exhaustion of having to think about it ALL of the time and always questioning if they are doing enough. It can create overwhelm, resignation and vacillating between desperately wanting change and feeling like nothing is going to work.
If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
Nutrition is a Skill, Not a Set of Rules
I've spent 20 years helping people just like you, and what I've discovered is that nutrition isn't about following rules—it's about building skills.
Three specific skills, actually: understanding what to eat for YOUR unique body, learning how to do it realistically in YOUR actual life—not just on perfect Mondays but on Thursday nights when the wheels are falling off—and building the confidence to know what moves the needle versus what you can just let go of.
Nutrition Science
Learn what works for your unique body
so that you can reach your goals.
Emotional Eating
These are the things that can cause us to fall off track. From black & white thinking, to emotional eating, to cravings. Learning how to be preventative so one bad day doesn’t derail you.
Eating Behavior
This is the how. How do you do it consistently and realistically so nutrition is a support system rather than always the focus.
Most approaches are like balancing on a one-legged stool. They focus on WHAT to eat but ignore HOW to do it consistently or HOW to think about it when life gets messy.
When my clients build all three skills, something beautiful happens—eating becomes easy. Not effortless, but easy.
It becomes a stable support system rather than something that takes up their entire brain. It feels like an exhale and something that they can finally be proud of.
What Happens in an Initial Consultation?

The initial consultation is offered either in person in my San Diego Office or virtually.
During the session
Tara will review your goals, health history and current nutrition and offer you specific and actionable advice. (in all honestly, a lot of people get everything they need from this single session!)
Next Steps
At the end of the session, Tara will give you your personalized nutrition action plan and recommendations for moving forward.
The price of this consultation is $79 and all forms of payment are accepted inlcuding FSA/HSA.
A lot can happen in a single session!
“Our meeting with you last week is all Gary and I have talked about over the last 7 days! Thank you for your honesty and encouragement and for being completely non-judgmental. I can’t tell you how much we learned from you in one short hour! Your straightforward, fact-filled style is exactly what we needed. None of our time with you was wasted!”
Jessica
“Just an FYI….I’ve implemented your suggestions and I can fit into my clothes again! I’ve not found it hard to follow at all. I’m going to continue with it. Thanks for the great suggestions 🙂 I’m so happy I came in!”
Barbara
“I wanted to thank you so much for teaching about my nutrition and how to make healthy adjustments. Today is the fist time I weighed in at XXX lbs., which has been my targeted weight. My wedding is about 2 weeks away and I feel so healthy! Thank you again! “

Our work together may include:
- Resting Metabolic Test: We’ll measure your exact metabolism to learn the exact amount of calories you’re burning each day. This allows us to make sure you’re eating the correct amount of food each day to reach your goals.
- Body Composition: We measure your weight, body fat, muscle mass, hydration, and visceral fat, which serves as a starting point and gives an accurate understanding of what realistic goals are for you.
- Life Assessment: I pick your brain about life, work, and relationships. Where do you grocery shop? Where do you like to eat out? If you cook, how do you cook? What are your food likes and dislikes? The goal is to learn as much about your life as possible, so I can create a plan that fits inside it.
- Custom Planning: After I’ve gathered all the necessary information, I create a personalized plan for you and your goals. Typically the turnaround on plans is two business days after our initial assessments are completed.
- Follow-up Sessions: With my most comprehensive plan, we have weekly 30-minute follow up sessions where I check in and see how you’re doing. I also provide education, updates to your plan, and hold you accountable to your goals. The follow-up sessions are available in person, via zoom or email.
Working together is a good fit if:
- You’re feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by all the conflicting information around nutrition.
- You feel like you are doing all the things and not getting any of the results.
- You’re sick of feeling uncomfortable in your skin and sluggish in your life.
- You reject diet culture AND you still desire change.
- You want to understand what “feeling great” really feels like.
- You’re willing to try something different and commit 100%.
- You want to find balance between the results you desire and the life you want to live.
