As a bit more background for those who like details, I came to Tara because there was something preventing me from reaching my nutrition goals, so I decided to enlist some help.   I’ve had digestive issues since I was a kid (IBS and lactose intolerance).  I’ve mostly figured out how to manage and am generally a healthy eater as well as very slim (super fast metabolism).  My goals were to increase my energy levels which would be more constant throughout the day versus periodic spikes/crashes and also to better deal with digestive issues, especially when traveling and needing to eat out.  I was also looking to gain a bit of mass, but previous diets involving tons of eating were horrible.  I wanted to eat a more balanced and nutritionally rich healthy diet, but had trouble visualizing and understanding what various food offered and the right combinations to reach the above goals.  I got together with Tara a couple times to establish and review a meal plan that showed the amounts of different foods (protein, carbs, fats) I needed and some suggested meals along with a few recipes even.  Talking with Tara (and I also did a bit of research on my own) really got me past a wall where I feel much more energetic and satisfied meal-wise that is natural and well balanced.”

“I was about 25lbs overweight, and had grown increasingly stressed and tired. Knowing that something had to change, I started poking around online and googled, “Nutritionist” and “San Diego,” and Tara’s name popped up in several places. I came here to Yelp and saw that her reviews were really positive, and even though I doubted that I actually had the willpower to change the way that I was eating (I LOVE FOOD), I took the plunge and emailed her to set up an appointment.

She took the time to get to know what kind of eating habits I had, what my cravings were, what my “must haves” were (chocolate baby!), and created a plan for me that wasn’t so much a diet as it was a shift—she kept much of what I had already been doing that was good, but tweaked it a little bit. Then, every week I would talk with her, and she would help me think about when and why I eat and crave the foods that I do.

I have lost 20lbs and I don’t really feel like I’ve had to change very much about my diet. I don’t count calories and I haven’t ever been hungry or felt like I was missing out on much.
